HPNS Society is for the exchange of information, research, and education about recreational hypnosis while fostering friendship, mutual respect, and community among gay men.

A VOICE IN HPNS
Members may attend the annual membership meeting and participate in the election of officers and board members.
WHAT MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES
✔ HPNS welcomes everyone to participate. Anyone may join our Discord community, and Community Membership is free for those who would like to establish a formal relationship with the Society. Supporting Membership helps fund HPNS and provides additional benefits.
✔ Notification of official HPNS events, such as the Annual Weekend. Community Membership is free but recommended so we can communicate with you, and allows you to keep your contact information current.
✔ All members may connect with the HPNS community throughout the year, participate in community discussions, explore shared interests, attend HPNS activities, and register for the Annual Weekend.
✔ Supporting Members may opt in to notificaitons for selected regions and interests and may vote in Society elections and other official business.
✔ The annual membership meeting is open to all members in good standing. Only Supporting Members may vote or otherwise participate in formal Society decisions.

Membership year: October 1 through September 30. Dues are not prorated. Renewal details are provided during registration.
MEMBERSHIP AND THE ANNUAL WEEKEND
Supporting Membership dues do not include registration for the Annual Weekend. Both Community Members and Supporting Members may register for the weekend at the applicable rate.
The annual membership meeting, held Sunday morning during the Annual Weekend, is open without additional charge to all members in good standing. Supporting Members may vote in elections and other formal Society business, while Community Members may attend as non-voting participants.
All other weekend sessions, activities, meals, and events require the appropriate Annual Weekend registration or additional fee.
HPNS Society Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct helps ensure a positive, respectful, and enriching experience for all members and participants.
1. General Guidelines
a. Name Badges
At HPNS Society sponsored events, always wear your name badge for identification and security purposes.
b. Discord
We highly encourage downloading the free Discord app from your device’s app store. This will help you stay up to date on HPNS Society announcements and activities, and allow you to connect with other members.
c. Recording Policy
Personal video or audio recording during HPNS Society events is not permitted.
2. Expected Behavior
a. All attendees at HPNS Society events are expected to:
- Treat all participants with respect and consideration.
- Be mindful of your language and actions and how they may affect others.
- Communicate openly and thoughtfully, and be considerate of the many views and opinions that may differ from your own.
- Be respectful when critiquing ideas.
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and your fellow participants.
b. The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and will not be tolerated, online or at HPNS Society sponsored events:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, or other meeting guest.
- Disruption of presentations or other events.
- Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention.
- Inappropriate use of nudity or sexual images in public spaces.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
- Encouraging or advocating for any of the above behavior.
3. Reporting Problems
If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately using one of the following methods:
- In person: Bring the issue directly to a board member or event organizer.
- By Discord: Send a direct message to a board member or event organizer through the Discord server.
- By email: Send a written report to support@hpnssociety.org. This email is monitored regularly, especially throughout HPNS Society sponsored events.
EXPECTATIONS OF MEMBERS
Members are expected to respect the privacy, dignity, boundaries, and consent of others and to help preserve the welcoming community HPNS has built.
